With the new intercoms, FELA Management AG is introducing a new generation of emergency call points, developed in strict accordance with the current RTE 40100:2024 “Emergency equipment for passengers”. These compact units combine modern communication technology, robust construction and clearly defined safety-related procedures, perfectly tailored to the demanding conditions of public transport.

Developed in accordance with RTE 40100:2024 – for maximum safety

The functional and signalling processes of the intercoms fully comply with the requirements of RTE 40100:2024.

These include clearly structured emergency call procedures, defined status indicators and reliable hands-free communication with the control centre or the train driver – crucial for rapid responses in an emergency.

Modern communication & intuitive operation

The intercom units utilise VoIP (SIP call) via LAN and are powered via PoE Class 2/3 (802.3af) / PoE+ (802.3at).

The control units consist of an illuminated button with a triangular frame – easily distinguishable by touch in accordance with the standard – and tactile SOS lettering plus Braille or a bell symbol. Several RGB LEDs provide clear, easily understandable visual feedback on the current operating status at all times and indicate the functional sequences in accordance with RTE40100:2024. Backwards compatibility with RTE40100:2016 is also ensured.

Robust design for daily operation

The all-metal housing, made of aluminium and steel, provides reliable protection against mechanical stress and environmental influences. The key technical specifications underline its high durability:

• Operating temperature range: –25°C to +55°C, briefly up to +70°C
• Protection class IP44 on the passenger side
• Lightweight at 1 kg
• 8 galvanically isolated I/O interfaces (4x In, 4x Out)
• 5 RGB LEDs and LED ring lighting on the pushbutton
• Clean and modern front design, with no visible screw connections
• M12 Push-Pull hybrid screw-lock connector for LAN, enabling quick and easy connection

Compact and easy to install

With a front panel height of 190 mm and a width of 130 mm, the HSS 2501 and FGSS 2502 can be easily integrated into existing or new vehicle architectures.

Installation is concealed using M4 threaded bolts at the rear. The dimensional drawings and cut-out templates in the technical documentation facilitate easy integration.

Easy to service thanks to web-based configuration

The intercom unit can be efficiently configured and maintained via an integrated web interface – ideal for day-to-day operation and quick adjustments.

With these new intercom units, FELA is setting new standards for safety, regulatory compliance and reliability in rail transport, offering operators a modern, robust and intuitive solution for passenger communication.
