On 2 April 2021, the day had come: our POS ticketing system, which we developed on behalf of the Bielersee Schifffahrts-Gesellschaft, embarks on its maiden voyage. BSG is the largest tourism company in the Three-Lakes Region and services Switzerland’s longest navigable waterway. In total, BSG operates nine ships on its route from Solothurn, via Biel to Murten – they have all been equipped with point-of-sale ticketing devices.
In addition to the S-POS C devices for ticketing on board, three CS cash registers are used as counter sales devices in the office and kiosk.
One of the main requirements, apart from the technical robustness of the devices and a simple management system in the background, was the implementation of special functions of the ticket sale system, e.g. regarding special discounts, receipts or separate cash withdrawals.
The provision of all relevant data and rules in the backend, which guarantee a smooth sale, was carried out as a service by FELA – but always with the aim of making the customer independent of the supplier in dealing with his system. With a final training session at the end of the project, we now put the system in the hands of our client BSG for ongoing administration and support.
